TYPE : Swarm Robot

DESCRIPTION :

C8-Phage is a small mobile robot designed as one unit within a group. It moves across the floor through a simple mechanism and receives control signals from the performer. Each unit has only a limited range of movement, but when several units move together, their repetitions, delays, and small differences begin to form a collective rhythm. C8-Phage does not speak, display facial expressions, or make decisions by itself. Its presence appears through movement, number, and the behavior of the group.

CONCEPT :

C8-Phage was made as a small carrier of movement. One unit is almost too simple to be read as a performer. It only moves, stops, and repeats. But when multiple units share the same floor, people begin to read a swarm, an infection, or a small society. The robot is not completed inside a single body. It becomes visible through its relation to the others.
