Digilio Psyché is a species of lepidopteran in the family Digidae, subfamily Diginae, and genus Digilio. This butterfly, named after a figure from Greek myth, is also known as the Digital Butterfly, or more simply, Digipapi.
For a long time, it was regarded as a legendary creature, appearing only in literature. Its first known appearance can be found in a famous fable by Zhuangzi from the 4th century BCE. According to the theory of Joseph Fourier in 1822, the butterfly was first discovered on a theoretical level, and its existence was mathematically proven for the first time in 2016.
Its primary habitat is within computer networks, particularly in their darker regions. It feeds on sound and undergoes metamorphosis. Its unique characteristic is that it constantly emits digital signals while floating.
According to Edward Lorenz, a tornado in Texas in 1972 may have been triggered by its activity.
Today, its ecology is still being analyzed, and communication with it is hoped for in the near future.
